CECAD Cluster of Excellence – Cellular Stress Responses in Aging-Associated Diseases

CECAD is the unifying driving force bringing together researchers and clinicians of the University and the University Hospital of Cologne. CECAD Cologne is funded by the German Research Foundation (DFG) within the Excellence Initiative set up by the German Federal and State Governments.
 
The mission of CECAD is to unravel the molecular mechanisms underlying lifespan regulation and aging-associated diseases (e.g. aging-associated impairment of pathogen defense, cancer, diabetes and neurodegenerative diseases). CECAD’s long-term objective is to develop novel therapeutic interventions. The CECAD Graduate School is again offering

10 fully funded PhD Fellowships

for our comprehensive PhD training in the highly interdisciplinary field of aging. The three-year program is designed to provide excellent research conditions with intensive supervision and high-tech facilities in an international research environment. The PhD curriculum is complemented by seminars and courses in aging related subjects as well as practice-oriented general skills. Our students receive full funding for the whole PhD period and the program language is English.
 
We encourage highly qualified and motivated students holding or about to obtain an M.Sc. or equivalent degree in biology, biochemistry or other related subjects to apply. Alternatively, we accept applicants with a medical degree who have proof of sufficient research experience in a relevant field.
