The following documents should be attached to the e-mail in pdf:
• A complete curriculum vitae describing education and employment history. A prerequisite for appointment is that the candidate complete their Ph.D. by August 31, 2012. A copy of the Ph.D. degree certificate must be attached to the application, or if the degree is still pending, then an up-to-date study transcript and a plan for completion of the degree must be provided.
• List of publications, including brief synopses and assessment of scientific significance of at most three of the most relevant publications. For these top publications, also pointers to openly available online versions of the papers must be provided.
• A research statement of at most three pages outlining planned work in the fellowship period, and the candidate’s motivation for pursuing the research specifically at Aalto University.
The candidate should also arrange for reference letters from the two indicated senior academics to be sent separately to the address "registry@aalto.fi" within two weeks of the application itself. Review of applications begins on 1 March 2012, and the final deadline for submissions is 31 March 2012.
In the review process, emphasis is put on the strength of the candidate’s academic track record, together with the substance, innovativeness, and feasibility of the research plan. The candidate’s potential for collaborations with other researchers at the Institute and the participating Departments is also assessed. Excellent command of English is a necessary prerequisite.
The salary level for the Fellows is between 3500 and 4700 €/month, depending on experience and qualifications. The contract includes Finnish occupational health and social security benefits, and the Institute supports the Fellows’ travel up to a level of 5000 €/year.
