The Max Planck Institute for Molecular Genetics is an international research institute with approximately 450 employees, working in the field of medical genomics. A special focus lies on the genome analysis of man and other organisms.
In the Mass Spectrometry Group
A PhD position
is available immediately.
The new Mass Spectrometry Group just opened and is focusing on mitochondrial proteomics/metabolomics. Furthermore, we provide MS service for the entire Max Planck Institute.
Primary objectives for the candidate include, but are not limited to: quantitative analyzation of the entire mitochondrial proteome/metabolome in response to various treatments/stimuli, rho0 cells, pSILAC, mimic/analyze known mitochondrial disorders.
Qualifications:
The applicant must have strong background in the field of proteomics. Expertise and hands-on experience, i.e., in quantitative mass spectrometry (nanoHPLC/MS/MS) with additional experience in protein/peptide-metabolite sample preparation and posttranslational modifications as well as cell culture techniques are highly desirable.
Candidates with additional experience in the mitochondrial field will be given preference. Furthermore, the ability to work as a member of a team, efficient time management, to be able to learn new techniques and apply them to a high standard, possess excellent communication and reporting skills and an active interest in scientific research are basic requirements. Responsibilities will include development and execution of experiments, data analysis, manuscript preparation, presentation of results, and working with collaborators and other members of the research team.
The position is available immediately for two years with the possibility of prolongation.
