The
Technical University of Munich (TUM) invites applications for the position of
Tenure Track Assistant Professor
in »Translational Neurotechnology«
to begin as soon as possible. The position is a W2 fixed-term position (6 years) with tenure track option to a tenured W3 position (Associate Professor).
Scientific environment
The professorship belongs to the TUM School of Medicine and will be part of the Department of Neurosurgery at the university hospital Klinikum
rechts der Isar. TUM School of Medicine is one of Germany’s top medical schools in research and in teaching with a strong focus on interdisciplinary
and translational research. Close interactions in particular with the core areas "Neurosciences", "Neuroengineering" and "Biomedical Engineering" are desirable.
Responsibilities
The responsibilities include research and teaching as well as the promotion of early-career scientists. We seek to appoint an expert in the research area of
systems neurophysiology of cognitive brain functions with expertise in cutting-edge neurophysiological technologies to address physiology and pathophysiology
at the level of individual neurons and their networks. Research approaches with a direct relevance for a better understanding of the function and dysfunction
of the human brain are desirable.
The teaching load includes courses in the subject area and the basic courses offered by the department as well as courses for other academic TUM departments.
Qualifications
We are looking for a candidate who has demonstrated initial scientific achievements and the capacity for independent research at the highest international
standards. A university degree and an outstanding doctoral degree or equivalent scientific qualification as well as pedagogical aptitude, including the
ability to teach in English, are also prerequisites. Substantial research experience abroad, proven ability in leadership of research projects as well as
proven ability to gain competitive third-party funding (e.g. DFG, EU, etc.) are expected. A medical license in a neuro-medical discipline and a successful
application for an advanced personal research fellowship (Heisenberg, ERC etc.) is desired.
