Associate Professor - Technische Universität München (TUM) - Logo
The Technical University of Munich (TUM) invites applications for the position of

Associate Professor
in »Solid-State Electrolyte Chemistry«

as tenured W3 Associate Professor; to begin as soon as possible.
Scientific environment
The professorship is associated with the TUM Department of Chemistry. Due to an international faculty and Master courses taught in English, the departments attract outstanding students at all levels. The professorship offers numerous cooperation opportunities, e.g. with the research neutron source Heinz Maier-Leibnitz (FRM II) and with the Departments of Mechanical Engineering and Electrical and Computer Engineering at TUM
Responsibilities
The responsibilities include research and teaching as well as the promotion of early-career scientists. We seek to appoint an expert in the research area of battery materials with a preferred focus on solid-electrolytes synthesis/characterization and solid-electrolyte based energy storage devices, who can also bridge the gap to battery production and modelling R&D in the engineering facilities. The professorship will be leading the new Competence Center for Solid Electrolytes. The teaching load includes courses in the university's bachelor and master programs of Chemistry. We expect the ability to provide introductory lectures in inorganic and analytical chemistry. Moreover, this professorship will be an interdisciplinary link between the areas of physical chemistry and inorganic chemistry, and shall contribute with specialized lectures in the area of energy storage materials in the Master's program.
Qualifications
We are looking for a candidate with a university degree in Chemistry and an outstanding doctoral degree or equivalent scientific qualification. Candidates should demonstrate advanced scientific achievements, a proven ability to acquire third party funding (e.g. DFG, ERC, BMBF), and evidence of their ability to lead cooperative research projects. Successful candidates must show pedagogical aptitude, including the ability to teach in English. Substantial research experience abroad is expected.
