of » Large Animal Cardiovascular Translation «
to begin as soon as possible. The position is a tenured W3 position.
The professorship belongs to the TUM School of Medicine and will be part of the Department of Cardiology at the university hospital Klinikum rechts der Isar. TUM School of Medicine is one of Germany‘s top medical schools in research and in teaching with a strong focus on interdisciplinary and translational research. Close collaboration with the TUM School of Life Sciences Weihenstephan and the German Heart Center Munich offer solid base for excellent fundamental and translational cardiovascular research. Depending on the scientific profile of the successful applicant, integration into the new Large Animal Center at Weihenstephan Campus is intended. Close interactions with the German Cardiovascular Consortium (DZHK) as well as other German Health Centers are desirable.
The responsibilities include research and teaching as well as the promotion of early-career scientists. We seek to appoint an expert in the research area of genetic manipulated large animals, and/or molecular interventions in cardiovascular disease. Development and analysis of relevant large animal models is central focus of this position. The candidate is expected to contribute to research networks (DFG, BMBF, EU) dealing with translational cardiovascular research. The teaching load includes courses in the subject area and the basic courses offered by the department as well as courses for other academic TUM departments.
We are looking for a candidate with advanced scientific experience, proven by achievements in research and teaching at the highest international standards. A university degree and an outstanding doctoral degree or equivalent scientific qualification as well as pedagogical talent, including the ability to teach in English, are also prerequisites. Substantial research experience abroad is expected. Proven ability and experience in management and leadership of research projects as well as proven ability to gain competitive third party funding (e.g. DFG, EU, etc.) are expected. Successful applicants are expected to have successfully applied for a personal research grant within the scope of the Heisenberg, ERC, NIH or other comparable top-level scientific funding programs.
Based on best international standards and transparent performance criteria, TUM offers a meritbased academic career option through a permanent position as Associate Professor, and on to Full Professor. The regulations of TUM Faculty Recruitment and Career System apply.
