Communication and Research Coordinator (f/m) For the Department of European and Comparative Procedural Law
The Max Planck Institute Luxembourg for Procedural Law is an Institute of the Max Planck Society,
which is Germany‘s most successful research organization.
At present, the Institute comprises two departments: the Department of European and Comparative
Procedural Law (Department I), and the Department of International Law and Dispute Resolution
The Max Planck Institute Luxembourg would like to appoint a highly qualified candidate for one fulltime
Communication and Research Coordinator (m/f)
For the Department of European and Comparative Procedural Law
• Permanent contract, full time 40 hrs/week
• Employee status
The position offered will be integrated within Department I, to coordinate communication and research therein, in close cooperation with Department
II and the Institute‘s General Services Department (responsible for the organization of conferences and other events).
Within Department I, the Communication and Research Coordinator is responsible for the activities regarding communication of the
Department‘s interests and activities to different internal and/or external parties. In addition, the Communication and Research Coordinator supports
the Department in scientific and organizational aspects of research, liaising and coordinating with the other department. S/he will take over
the responsibility for the following fields of action:
Coordinate and organize workshops, seminars and academic events the scientific program of the Department in coordination with the
Department‘s researchers and the Institute‘s General Services Department;
Coordinate and organize, in collaboration with the scientific coordinator of the other Department, common scientific events of the Institute;
Coordinate, in close collaboration with the scientific coordinator of the other Department the Institute‘s guest program;
Coordinate, further develop and implement the Department‘s communication strategy within the framework of the overall institution
Draft, copy-edit and post clear, compelling and relevant content on social media;
In cooperation with the other Departments, design and edit publications such as the various reports, research brochures and other marketing
material of the Institute (in English), ensuring relevant diffusion and media coverage when applicable (within Luxembourg and internationally);
Facilitate and support the writing of short articles for the MPI website increasing the dissemination of the research findings, identifying
target audiences and appropriate communication tools to achieve the greatest impact;
Maintain an overview of the research activities of the Department and the Institute‘s researchers;
Coordinate national and international third party funding programs and calls.
Degree-level education with 3-4 years professional experience in the domain. University studies in the field of the Institute‘s research
activities will be considered an asset;
Strong writing and copy-editing skills underpinned by analytical thinking;
Excellent command of English and fluent in French and/or German (written and spoken), knowledge of both languages being
considered an asset;
Familiar with the use of content management systems, Microsoft Office and social media;
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills;
Proven knowledge of the academic working environment and its special needs, in particular, knowledge of research funding programs:
Ability to cover and learn more about a range of research topics;
Good organizational skills with ability to prioritize competing demands and to ensure deadlines are met;
Team player in a multi-lingual and multi-cultural academic environment with upper-level communication standards.
