Faculty position (f/m) in the field of surgical or interventional technologies (Tenure Track)
Medical Faculty of the University of Bern / ARTORG / ISTB Center for Biomedical Engineering Research
The Medical Faculty of the University of Bern invites applications for a
Faculty position (full professor or tenure track assistant professor)
in the field of surgical or interventional technologies. The
successful candidate should have a proven track record in biomedical engineering research and clinical translation.
The position will be established at the joint ARTORG / ISTB Center for Biomedical Engineering Research.
Candidates should hold a PhD or equivalent in biomedical or mechanical engineering, physics, computer science or other relevant areas and are expected
to initiate and establish an internationally competitive research group. Acquiring third-party funding and collaboration with industrial partners is expected as
the aim is to build an integrated, multidisciplinary research laboratory committed to developing and translating novel medical applications, products or
services into clinical care and the healthcare market place.
Collaboration with other groups within the ARTORG Center of the University of Bern and/or the medical faculty is central to the research activities at the
Center. In particular, the future holder of this position is expected to continue the existing joint technical and clinical leadership of the constituent research
groups at the ARTORG / ISTB and the underlying close collaboration with the associated clinical departments. In addition the post holder will benefit from
associations with the University of Bern interdisciplinary research centers, facilities, and extended Swiss national network partners including the Bern
Biomedical Engineering Network as well as with national and international academic and clinical institutions. The appointee will be expected to teach
graduate level courses within the Graduate School for Cellular and Biomedical Sciences of the University of Bern and will confer relevant modules of the
Master program in Biomedical Engineering.
