WU (Vienna University of Economics and Business) is currently inviting applications for the position of a Full Professor of English Business Communication at the Department of Foreign Language Business Communication (duration of employment is 4 years, starting on September 1, 2019).

WU is one of the largest business universities in the European Union and is centrally located at the heart of Europe. The University maintains an excellent position as a center for research and teaching and attracts an international group of students and faculty. It offers a broad range of undergraduate, graduate, and executive programs in the area of business, economics, and business law. WU has been granted triple accreditation by EQUIS, AACSB, and AMBA, and is a member of a number of international networks such as PIM and CEMS.

The Department is the largest university research and education center in the field of foreign language business communication in Europe. In addition to its strong involvement in teaching, the Department aims to maintain and further a strong research profile in several areas of applied linguistics with regard to business communication.

Required skills and qualifications: a) a solid academic qualification (e.g. PhD, habilitation or an equivalent qualification) in linguistics, English business communication, or related areas; b) an outstanding international reputation in high quality scholarship in the area of applied linguistics, ideally in the field of business communication, commensurate with academic age especially by having demonstrated the ability to publish in top-tier journals of the field and/or books published by leading publishers; c) excellent teaching qualifications at undergraduate and graduate level as well as in executive teaching in English and/or linguistics; d) proven international experience; e) a proven track record in embracing administrative and/or management responsibilities competently, reliably and with commitment; f) expert command of spoken and written English; g) ability to work in teams and communicate effectively with both internal and external stakeholders; h leadership qualities; i) gender mainstreaming skills.

The successful candidate will participate in teaching programs at all levels (bachelor, MSc, doctorate and executive education) and we expect the new professor to take an active role in the ongoing development of the academic programs, including design and further development of the new specialization in "International Business Communication".

Teaching experience in English is required; teaching experience in German is not necessary. Non-German-speaking candidates will be expected to acquire proficiency in German over a certain period of time.
