The Faculty of Geosciences at the University of Münster, Germany,
seeks to fill the position of a
in remote sensing and spatial modelling
(salary level W3, tenured)
This professorship is part of the federal- and state-funded Programme
for Women Professors to promote gender equality in academia and
research at German universities (Professorinnenprogramm III). The
position is to be filled by 1st October, 2019.
We are looking for an inspiring and motivated candidate with an international
reputation to represent the field of remote sensing and spatial
modelling at the Institute for Landscape Ecology (ILÖK) in research
and teaching.Amajor research focus will be at the Iandscape scale,
linking remote sensing with related disciplines such as biodiversity
research, ecosystem and soil ecology, hydrology, biogeochemistry and
climatology. The successful applicant will study changes in land cover
and interactions of land use with biodiversity, air pollution, carbon and
nutrient cycling. Experience in applied fields such as global change
research, agriculture, forestry, nature conservation or ecosystem
restoration and management are highly welcome. Applied methods
should comprise up-to-date techniques in remote sensing and spatial
modelling, and candidates should have strong skills in (big) data
processing and statistics.
The successful candidate is expected to teach in BSc and MSc
programmes in landscape ecology (environmental sciences) and in
associated BSc programmes (geography, geoinformatics). Proficiency
in written and spoken German is not a prerequisite, but the candidate
is expected to achieve a sufficient command of German within the first

achievements made as a Juniorprofessor (assistant professor), in a
Habilitation (postdoctoral qualification), as a member of the academic
staff of an university or non-university research institute, or in a research
position in business, industry, administration or other relevant fields in
Germany or abroad.
