The Technical University of Munich (TUM) invites applications for the position of
of » Early Clinical Trials and Translational Cancer Research «
to begin at the earliest possible date. The professorship is a tenured W3 position. The Full Professor will be head of the TUM site of the Comprehensive Cancer Center Munich (CCCMTUM).
The professorship belongs to the TUM School of Medicine, one of Germany's top medical schools in research and teaching with a strong focus on interdisciplinary and translational research in oncology. The CCCMTUM is a collaboration of different departments at TUMs university hospital Klinikum rechts der Isar. Its aim is to continuously enhance the treatment of different types of cancer to offer modern and comprehensive cancer therapy. CCCMTUM is part of CCCM, promoted by the German Cancer Aid as one of 13 oncological centers of excellence in Germany since 2014.
Responsibilities of the position include research and teaching, as well as the promotion of early-career scientists. The teaching load includes courses in the subject area and fundamentals courses offered by the department, as well as courses for other TUM schools and departments. The responsibility of the full professor will be the joint leadership of the CCCM (together with the Head of CCCMLMU).
We seek to appoint an expert in the field of early clinical trials (phase 1 and 2) with experience in innovative trial design (investigator initiated trials, basket trials) and translational cancer research. As a TUM professor and Head of CCCMTUM, the successful candidate will be responsible for the leadership, management and coordination of overarching CCCMTUM structures. This includes planning and conducting clinical studies in collaboration with the departments of the CCCMTUM, with TUM's clinical study center MSZ and the CCCM, as well as linking clinical and basic oncological research activities (e.g. at TranslaTUM) at TUM.
We are looking for a high-profile candidate with an international reputation, who has demonstrated an outstanding academic record and an internationally recognized research program. A university degree and an outstanding doctoral degree or equivalent scientific qualification, as well as pedagogical aptitude, including the ability to teach in English, are prerequisites. Substantial research experience abroad is expected. Leadership competence and leadership experience in academic health care structures is required. Candidates are expected to be fully committed to conducting interdisciplinary research in collaboration with TUM scientists and relevant groups in Munich and in the greater Munich area. Moreover, candidates should possess leadership experience in the management of academic health care structures as well as a proven ability to establish, acquire and lead competitive and cooperative research projects.
