The Cluster of Excellence EXC 2124 “Controlling Microbes to Fight Infections“ at the University of Tübingen invites applications for
Independent Junior Research Group Leader
in the field of antibiotic discovery and antibiotic effects on bacterial communities
EXC 2124 studies functional interactions in complex microbial communities, the microbiomes, with emphasis on bacterial pathogens and antibiotic resistance. It is a world-leading interdisciplinary research institution awarded as a Cluster of Excellence as part of the German Excellence Strategy.
To complement our research activities, we are seeking highly motivated young scientists with an outstanding scientific track record and substantial international research experience in antibiotic research related to the aims of the cluster. Potential research aims include the discovery of novel antibiotics from microbiomes and other innovative sources, the impact of antibiotics on microbiomes and associated health, functional interactions mediated through and influenced by antibiotics in microbial communities (particularly in the human host), systems biology of antibiotics, molecular mechanisms of antibiotics action and biosynthesis, and microbiome-preserving antibiotic interventions. The successful candidate is expected to actively contribute to the Cluster of Excellence EXC 2124, the TRR 261 and, if appropriate, to the German Research Foundation and the German Center for Infection Research. Both, basic and translational approaches are welcome. For further information on EXC 2124 please visit:
The selected candidates will obtain attractive startup packages for six years with the possibility of an extension and are expected to implement their research groups starting by summer 2020 or later.
