The Comprehensive Heart Failure Center Würzburg CHFC / Interdisciplinary Center for Clinical Research (IZKF)Würzburg
The Comprehensive Heart Failure Center Würzburg CHFC is an Integrated Research
and Treatment Center supported by the German Ministry of Education and
Research. More than 120 scientists conduct interdisciplinary basic, translational,
and clinical research and provide innovative patient care in the field of prevention
of heart failure and its medical complications. The CHFC’s vision is to improve the
awareness of heart failure as an urgent health challenge in society, to connect
existing excellent basic science and clinical research and to implement preventive
strategies for diagnostics and management as well as new therapies. In 2016 the
CHFC will move into its new research building comprising four departments, i.e.
imaging, translational research, genetics, and clinical research.
The Interdisciplinary Center for Clinical Research (IZKF) administers the internal
research funding of the Medical Faculty of the University of Würzburg. Its major
goal is to foster interdisciplinary cooperation between basic and clinical research.
The IZKF awards cooperative research grants, promotes training and advancement
of young scientists working in medicine and co-finances scientific infrastructure

Two Junior Research Group Leaders
(PhD or MD) in the field of Experimental
or Translational Heart Failure Research
We are seeking outstanding young scientists trained in medicine or natural
sciences who have already made excellent and innovative scientific contributions.
activities should be related to one or several of the main research topics of the
CHFC (see our website for further information). The new research groups will
benefit from the attractive interdisciplinary environment at the CHFC and its close
cooperation with the departments of cardiology, heart surgery, nephrology,
neurology, psychiatry, psychology, radiology, and nuclear medicine as well as from
brand new research facilities.
Successful candidates will be appointed for five years. The Junior Research
Groups will receive up to 200.000 per year for scientific and assistant personnel
and consumables. After three years the Junior Groups will be subject to an interim
