The Undergraduate Studies department at Central European University (CEU) invites
applications for
a full-time lecturer position in the area of Mathematics.
CEU is an English language university that offers academic programs at
undergraduate, graduate and PhD academic levels. CEU’s community of students and
faculty is very international with a diverse student body that comes from over 100
countries. Currently, CEU has three undergraduate programs: Philosophy, Politics,
and Economics (PPE), Culture, Politics, and Society (CPS), and Quantitative Social
Sciences (QSS). CEU is looking to hire a full-time lecturer to train students in the
fundamentals of mathematics.
Qualifications:
We expect applications from mathematicians or mathematics teachers, with a track
record in teaching introductory university mathematics. The applicant needs to be an
experienced and professional math teacher with teaching as their main occupation.
Experience in non-mathematics teaching of undergraduate students is an advantage,
as is evidence of training in the didactics of teaching math. We also accept
applications from exceptional high school teachers with the appropriate credentials.
Job description:
The lecturer will teach mostly undergraduate students and some graduate courses in
the fields of linear algebra, calculus, probability, optimization and differential
equations, which includes lecturing and tutoring. The candidate will be expected to
participate in administrative service.
Compensation:
We offer a competitive yearly salary range of EUR 48,000, commensurate with
experience as well as additional benefits (e.g, pension plan). The initial contract is for
3 years, which can become an indefinite contract.
