The
Department of Computing at Imperial College London invites applications for four full-time permanent faculty member positions at the
Lecturer level (comparable to
Assistant Professorships), who will contribute to research, teaching and service. Exceptional candidates may be appointed at Senior Lecturer level (comparable to
Associate Professorships).
We value research in the foundational underpinnings and applied areas of our discipline, transdisciplinary research, and digital innovation. Therefore, we will consider outstanding candidates from any area of Computer Science.
The Department of Computing is among the largest Computing departments in the UK and is at the forefront of academic research and teaching. Its research has been ranked in the top three in the UK in the previous
Research Excellence Framework undertaken by the Higher Education funding Council for England. The
Complete University Guide ranks the Department’s teaching among the top five in Computer Science.
The Department co-leads the College’s
I-X initiative, a new collaborative environment for research, education, and entrepreneurship across artificial intelligence, data science, and digital technologies. This makes it an exciting time to join our Department and co-shape the future of research and education in our field. Appointed candidates will be encouraged to contribute to I-X in their areas of expertise – benefitting from the new stimulating environment that I-X will provide on our South Kensington and White City campuses.

Duties and responsibilities
- To build up a research portfolio and research group and to establish yourself as an internationally leading researcher.
- To supervise PhD students and post-doctoral research associates and to mentor their career development.
- To collaborate with colleagues in the Department, at the College and externally on teaching, research, and service.
- To develop teaching materials and teach Computer Science subjects at undergraduate and postgraduate levels.
- To adhere to our departmental values and those of the College.
Essential requirements
- A PhD in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent.
- Expertise and a developing reputation in the field of Computer Science or related field.
- A portfolio of research publications and outputs, confirming a standing commensurate with your career stage.
