The Department of Computing at Imperial College London invites applications for two full-time Lecturers, fixed-term for 2 years, who can contribute to teaching and research in the Department. You will be able to gain broad experience in teaching some of the best students in our discipline and will have the opportunity to engage with world-leading research groups to grow your own research activities and portfolio.
Our taught courses give students a solid grounding in the foundations of the discipline but also teach them how to design, program, and validate real systems. We offer Undergraduate BEng/MEng degrees in Computing and joint BEng/MEng degrees in Computing and Mathematics. Our Postgraduate courses reflect the breadth of the discipline, topical subject and application areas and offer courses for those who did not study Computer Science as a first degree.
We welcome applications from any area of research and teaching in Computer Science that meet the needs of our degrees. These needs are not limited to but include especially:
- Imperative and Object-Oriented Programming (e.g. C/C++, Java, or Kotlin),
- Foundational Mathematics, Mathematics for Machine Learning,
- Deep Learning,
- Vision,
- Logic-based Artificial Intelligence,
- Programming Language Theory, Formal Methods, Formal Reasoning,
- Algorithms,
- Computer Systems, Assembler Programming,
- Software Engineering, Object Oriented Design & Analysis.
You will teach and examine courses in Computer Science or related subjects, supervise taught students, and contribute to the development of teaching and enhancement of quality teaching within computer science. As well as demonstrating excellent leadership skills, you will have a willingness to contribute to the management and administrative functions of the Department and wider College community.
You will have a PhD (or equivalent) in Computer Science or a relevant field, together with a developing national or international reputation and expertise in the field of Computer Science. With a commitment to high quality teaching and fostering a positive learning environment, you will have experience of training Undergraduate and Postgraduate students and demonstrate an ability to contribute to undergraduate and postgraduate teaching programmes, as well as the supervision of taught students. You will also contribute to the administration and management of the Department.
