PhD Program Coordinator - CLS - ELLIS (m/f/d, 75 - 100%)
The Max Planck-ETH Center for Learning Systems (
http://learning-systems.org) addresses cross-disciplinary research questions in the fields of artificial intelligence,
machine learning, computer vision, and robotics on large and small scales. Being the first joint research center of ETH Zurich and the Max Planck Society, it coordinates and supports research projects
between various departments at ETH Zurich and the Max Planck Institute for Intelligent Systems in Stuttgart/Tuebingen.

opportunities and the ability for students to obtain a PhD degree in our unique graduate program. The Max Planck-ETH Center aspires to play a leading role in networking

Tasks and responsibilities
The coordinator supports the co-directors and the steering board. He or she will work on project development and activities
and take care of daily business and functions, including project management, the organization of meetings, workshops,
educational courses, as well as communication with the public. Specific duties include the following:
- Organization of the program and establishment of concepts and agendas for the program, in collaboration with members
- Recruitment of excellent PhD students including preparation of advertisements and interviews
- Preparation for steering board meetings
- Organization of scientific workshops and conferences
- Serving as the point of contact for the members and fellows
Preparation of evaluation reports
- Maintenance of the website
- Supporting students with organizational issues and keeping track of their achievements
- Day-to-day communication with PhD students, advisors, applicants, reviewers, and partners
Requirements
The applicant should have completed higher education (and ideally a PhD) in natural sciences, engineering and/or related fields. Knowledge of standard software
packages is required. We expect very good command of both English and German
(at least C1 level) as well as the willingness and capability to learn about the research topics. Professional experience in running structured, international PhD
programs and/or in research administration would be an asset. We expect that candidates would be prepared to do business trips in Europe as part of their job.

Salaries will be based on TVöD guidelines according to previous experience and qualifications. The position is initially limited
