Starting on September 1st, 2018 or nex possible date our Department Computational Social Science (CSS),
Team Knowledge Discovery located in Cologne, is looking for a
(Salary group 13 TV-L, 100%, initially for 4 years)
Computational Social Science (CSS) is a new area of research which aims to analyze socio-cultural phenomena through new kinds of data and novel technologies.
The ideal candidate is required to develop services for the social sciences (e.g. novel data collection methods, data mining and visualization instruments,
and/or trainings/tutorials) and conduct cutting edge research in computational social science.
Completed (or soon to be completed) PhD with a background in applied mathematics, physics, computer science, sociology or related fields
Strong programming skills and experience in one or several of the following fields are desirable:
Analysis and mining of temporal networks and time series
Sensor-based data collection and processing
Interest (and preferably existing experience) in sensors, e.g., web apps or RFID sensors, that can be used to collect data from individuals and groups and in the research design and operation of sensor-based studies.
Excellent English skills, both written and spoken
