Postdoctoral Position
(fulltime, Salary Scale E 13 TV-L, 2 years)
Reference Number 2022/144. We invite applications for a postdoctoral position funded by the Cluster of Excellence “The Politics of Inequality” for a duration of 24 months starting in September 2022.
In principle this position can be divided into two part-time positions.

We are an
interdisciplinary team composed of Juhi Kulshrestha (Jun. Prof. of Computational Social Science), Peter Selb (Prof. of Survey Methodology), Nils Weidmann (Prof. of Comparative Politics
of Non-democratic States), Andreas Spitz (Jun. Prof. of Data and Information Mining), and our external partner Denis Bonnay (Associate Prof. of Philosophy, Universite Paris Nanterre).
We seek a postdoctoral researcher to join our project that focuses on
examining online information seeking for making policy judgements. By
combining passive observation of real world web browsing traces with surveys
and incentivized experimental tasks, we aim to understand how inequities in the online information consumption and seeking behavior lead to inequities in political knowledge and judgment about welfare policy proposals.
Your qualifications
- PhD (or near completion) in political science, communication science, psychology, computer science or related disciplines
- Interest in research on online information consumption and its impact on political attitudes and behavior
- Proficiency in programming (in Python or R)
- Knowledge of quantitative methods and/or survey and experimental methods
- Experience with text analysis desirable
- German and English language skills
