Postdoctoral Researcher at the Hydraulic Laboratory at NTNU
About the position
We have a vacancy for a Postdoctoral Researcher at the Hydraulic Laboratory at The Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering.
The postdoctoral fellowship position is a temporary position where the main goal is to qualify for work in senior academic positions.
The position is integrated to the Hydraulic Engineering group at NTNU. Aim of the postdoc is to use high standard measurement instruments, which are available in our research group to raise scientific output and establish high-level workflows and post processing routines. The results will be used by the candidate to build a strong track record on the one hand, and as a basis for future research proposals by the research group on the other hand.

The position is temporary, 2-year, full time (100%), starting in August 2021.
You will report to associate professor.
Duties of the position
- Design and construct state of the art experiments to push the boundaries in research
- Design and oversee field laboratories
Required selection criteria
- You must have completed a Norwegian doctoral degree or corresponding foreign doctoral degree recognized as equivalent to a Norwegian PhD
- You must have a professionally relevant background in hydraulic engineering (or comparable)
- The ideal candidate should hold a relevant PhD (e.g. civil engineering, mechanical engineering, environmental engineering)
- Experience in designing and conducting all kinds of experiments in hydraulic modelling
- Advanced project management skills
The appointment is to be made in accordance with the regulations in force concerning State Employees and Civil Servants and
national guidelines for appointment as PhD, post doctor and research assistant
Preferred selection criteria
- The candidate must be proficient in spoken and written English and preferably has proficient knowledge in Norwegian
- Experience with AutoCAD, Matlab, GIS, Python, SolidWorks or comparable software skills
Personal characteristics
- Ability to work and/or collaborate with inter- and cross-disciplinary research environment
- Ability to work independently as well as in a team
- Initiative and motivation for the position will be considered in our assessment of the candidates
- Being solution-oriented and able to solve problems independently
We offer
Salary and conditions
As a Postdoctoral Fellow (code 1352) you are normally paid from gross NOK 545 300 per annum before tax, depending on qualifications and seniority. From the salary, 2% is deducted as a contribution to the Norwegian Public Service Pension Fund.
The period of employment is 2 years.
The engagement is to be made in accordance with the regulations in force concerning State Employees and Civil Servants, and the acts relating to Control of the Export of Strategic Goods, Services and Technology. Candidates who by assessment of the application and attachment are seen to conflict with the criteria in the latter law will be prohibited from recruitment to NTNU. After the appointment you must assume that there may be changes in the area of work.
It is a prerequisite you can be present at and accessible to the institution on a daily basis.
