The
German International University (GIU) and the
German University in Cairo (GUC) cooperate in order to expand their campus in
Berlin-Tegel as a hub for education and research cooperation with German and international partners in science and industry and to develop innovative courses of
study and research that complement the activities of GUC. The language of instruction is English.

The
Faculty of Media Engineering and Technology invites applications for the following positions effective September 2019 (or later). Appointments are possible also for 50% of the working time.
Professor / Associate Professor in Human Computer Interaction
The successful candidate will engage in teaching, research, supervision and administrative duties. The appointed professor is expected to play a leading role in establishing the research group and attract third-party funded projects in any chosen areas of interest in Human Computer Interaction. In this group, the professor will be responsible for developing humanoid interaction techniques for robotic systems. In addition to participating in this group, the professor shall endeavour in researching any chosen areas of HCI.
The appointed professor should support the teaching activities by taking responsibilities of courses such as Web Design and Usability, Software Engineering, HCI (elective), etc. The professor will contribute to selected teaching and supervision also on GUC Cairo campus to foster teaching and research collaboration.
Candidates should have solid experiences in at least two of the following fields:
- Interface and interaction design
- Multimodal interaction with technological artefacts
- Ergonomics
- Mediated human collaborations
- Collaborative virtual environments
- Augmented Reality
- Virtual Reality
Further qualifications
- PhD degree in in Informatics (with focus on HCI)
- Background in HCI-related topics such as interaction techniques, experimental design, visualization techniques, etc.
- Excellent scientific achievements, documented by internationally recognized publications
- Track record of collaborative research, ability to attract research funding, and successful supervision
- Excellent teaching ability at both the undergraduate and graduate levels
- High capacity to develop pedagogical innovations and to manage a study programme
- Excellent communication skills (oral, written, presentation)
- Proficiency in English (oral and written)
