The
Faculty of Information Engineering and Technology invites applications for the following positions effective September 2019 (or later). Appointments are for 50% of the working time.
Professor / Associate Professor in Mathematics and Actuarial Sciences
The successful candidate will establish and lead a research group in the area of Actuarial Science, Statistics, Probability, and Mathematics by building a strong foundation of research and publications. This includes actively promoting graduate and undergraduate research at the GIU Berlin.
The appointed professor supports the teaching activities by taking responsibilities of courses related to mathematics, probability, statistics and actuarial sciences. She/he will also engage in administrative duties.
Qualifications
- PhD degree in Mathematics, Actuarial Science, Statistics, or related fields
- Excellent scientific achievements, documented by internationally recognized publications
- Track record of collaborative research, ability to attract research funding, and successful supervision
- Excellent teaching ability at both the undergraduate and graduate levels
- High capacity to develop pedagogical innovations and to manage a study programme
- Excellent communication skills (oral, written, presentation)
- Proficiency in English (oral and written)
