Professor in Humanistic Information Studies
The Department of Design and Communication at the University of Southern Denmark (SDU), Faculty of Humanities, invites applications for a position as Professor in Humanistic Information Studies. The position is located at SDU's campus in Kolding and is available from February 1, 2021 or as soon as possible thereafter.
The Department of Design and Communication is a highly interdisciplinary department encompassing Design Studies, International Business Communication, Humanistic Information Studies, Library Science, Web Communication, and Tourism.
Applicants should have research and teaching experience at a professorial level within humanistic information studies. We also welcome applications by researchers having either a background within a relevant humanistic subject (such as, e.g., communication studies or philosophy) combined with a solid knowledge of the basics of computer science or, conversely, a background in computer science combined with strong, documented interests in humanistic research perspectives on computer science.
The successful applicant is expected to play an active role in the already established humanistic research and study environment at the department.
To fulfil the position, the successful applicant must document:
substantial scientific and high-level research with an international reputation
experience in research and project management,
experience with raising external funding, arranging international conferences and assessments
a strong international network within the applicant's field
strong pedagogical skills and teaching experience at all levels including supervision of PhD students
The position involves, among other tasks:
developing the department's profile of research and study programs within the field of humanistic information studies
teaching and supervision at all levels, particularly in subjects within the area of humanistic information studies
project management and research team leadership
project development and application for external funding
outreach to private companies and public institutions to strengthen SDU's cooperation with and impact on society
It is expected that international staff will be able to teach in Danish after two years.

Application, salary, and condition of employment etc.
Employment shall be on the terms specified in the labour market agreement and the salary shall correspond to LR 37 (pay bracket 37) annually DKK 536.665,33 plus pension (1st April 2016 level). To this must be added a non-pension-qualifying supplement of DKK 52.935,93 (1st April 2016 level) from the executive pool.
Appointment to this position may also include teaching obligations in regard to related degree programs.

Applications will be assessed by an assessment committee. When the assessment committee has submitted its report, the applicant will receive the part of the evaluation that concerns him/her. The assessment report will subsequently be forwarded to the Head of Department who will assemble an appointments committee. An interview may form part of the overall assessment of the applicants' qualifications.
The committee may request additional information, and if so, it is the responsibility of the applicant to provide the necessary material.
If the application does not meet the requirements mentioned above, the Faculty of Humanities may reject your application without further notice. Applications received after the deadline will neither be considered nor evaluated.
