The KIT-Faculty of Chemistry and Biosciences in cooperation with the Helmholtz Programme "BioInterfaces in Technology and Medicine (BIFTM)" - as a part of the Division of Biology, Chemistry and Process Engineering - seeks to recruit at the earliest convenience a

W1-Professorship in Eucaryotic Cell Engineering
(with Tenure Track)

You will be head of a research group that works in the area of cell engineering preferentially in the field of mouse or human stem cell differentiation. A major focus should be the control of stem cells via tailor-made environments and to develop model systems for applications in biotechnology and biomedicine. You will intensively interact with existing groups and will have access to innovative bioactive materials, novel bio-functionalization strategies, libraries of small molecules, high-throughput screening facilities, and bioreactor systems all developed within the BIFTM programme.

You are expected to collaborate intensively in interdisciplinary projects within KIT. Teaching obligations comprise the subjects of Zoology and Cell Biology, in the Bachelor/Master courses of "General/Applied Biology" and "Chemical Biology".

Hiring requirements follow from § 51 of the Universities Act (Landeshochschulgesetz) of the state of Baden-Württemberg being applicable before April, 1^st 2014, requiring a university degree, teaching competence, and outstanding scientific competence. Appointment will be initially for a period of four years and is extended to a total of six years subject to a positive midterm evaluation. In case of a positive tenure evaluation, the assistant professor is appointed to a permanent full professorship (W3). For supporting a better predictable scientific career development and accompanying procedure and mentoring is offered.
