Professorship (W 2) for
Architectures of Embedded
Systems for Signal Processing
The professorship is associated with the management of a
research group at the Fraunhofer Heinrich Hertz Institute.
The Fraunhofer Heinrich Hertz Institute is one of the
world‘s leading research institutes for mobile and stationary
communication networks and for media technologies
of the future. It has consistently aligned its areas of
expertise with current and future market and development
requirements.
The future holder of the professorship Architectures of
Embedded Systems for Signal Processing is to represent
this field in research and teaching, have an outstanding
scientific track record in the field of embedded systems,
and have several years of successful research and development
experience.
The future professor is expected to have internationally
renowned expertise in one or more of the following
research areas
- Embedded systems for real-time digital signal processing
- Design and analysis of digital video signal processing
algorithms
- Efficient hardware architectures of video signal processing,
in particular video data compression
- HW/SW co-exploration methods with special regard to
real-time signal processing
- Dedicated, energy-efficient and distributed hardware
architectures for machine learning methods
Furthermore, relevant experience in leading a research
group and in the acquisition of third-party funding is
expected. Preference will be given to candidates with
experience in industrial research.
A teaching obligation of two hours per week for the Institute
for Computer Science at the University of Potsdam is part
of the appointment to the professorship under the Jülich
Model. Non-German speakers are expected to acquire a
working knowledge of German within the first three years
of their appointment.
