Professorship (W2 with Tenure Track) for Clinical Metabolomics
Kiel University has successfully applied for funding through the federal/
state programme in support of early career researchers, and seeks to
appoint more qualified women to professorships.
The position is available immediately at the Department of Internal
Medicine I and the Institute of Clinical Molecular Biology at the Faculty
of Medicine at Kiel University for a
W2 Professor (for 6 years)
with Tenure Track for
The future occupant of this position is expected to represent the
subject of clinical metabolomics in research and teaching, as well
as in translation medical research.
The successful candidate is expected to actively participate in both the
faculty's priority research area "Digital Medicine - Identify, Understand,
Heal" and will be fully integrated into the Cluster of Excellence
"Precision Medicine in Chronic Inflammation".
The candidate should have a doctorate degree and an independent
scientific qualification. It would be an advantage if a medical training
has been received or adequate scientific experience in interaction with
clinical medicine is documented.
Scientific interest and interest in chronic gastrointestinal diseases
(inflammation) is expected. The successful candidate should establish
his/her own research agenda in clinical metabolomics, whereby the
focus must be placed on translational studies which pursue mechanistic
approaches to the interaction between metabolomic regulatory problems
and chronic inflammation.
Close collaboration with Nutrition and Endocrinology (Prof. Dr Matthias
Laudes) at the Department of Internal Medicine I as well as the Professor
for Metabolomics at the Faculty of Medicine / Faculty of Agricultural
and Nutritional Sciences (appointment pending) is intended. Broad
methodological competence in the field of metabolomic technologies
will be built up through this W3 Professor for Metabolomics. As the
professorship will be pursuing a highly innovative approach, direct
previous experience with clinical studies in this field is not a requirement.
However, the candidate should present expertise in molecular and/or
cell biology (evidenced through appropriately high-level publications)
as well as experience which suggests that the task of conducting
diagnostic and interventional studies can be fulfilled.
