The Faculty of Veterinary Medicine in Giessen/Germany, invites applications for a
W3 Professorship for Veterinary Pathology

Reference is made to § 61 section 7 Hessisches Hochschulgesetz (HHG) and to conditions of employment based on § 62 HHG. Proficient knowledge of German is expected.
The successful candidate will represent the faculty in teaching, research and diagnostics and take over the management of the institute.
We are looking for an internationally qualified specialist with proven experience in veterinary pathological research. We expect innovative
research with a scientific focus on neuropathology and cancer biology. The willingness for interdisciplinary cooperation within the Faculty
of Veterinary Medicine and with other life science faculties of the Justus Liebig University as well as in larger research programs of the
research alliance „Forschungscampus Mittelhessen“ (www.fcmh.de) is anticipated. High-ranked, international publications as well as autonomous,
successful fundraising activities are obligatory. Furthermore, we expect the candidate to actively participate in the relevant international
activities of the faculty, to further promote the faculty’s international profile, and to strengthen JLU’s international network. Obligatory
prerequisites for applicants are a Ph.D. or habilitation or equivalent scientific achievements in veterinary pathology. In addition, the
candidate should be admitted as a national Veterinary Specialist in Pathology and/or as Diplomate of Veterinary Pathology).
Active involvement in the support of early career researchers as part of the Giessen Graduate Centre for the Life Sciences and the combined
Ph.D. program of the Faculties of Veterinary Medicine and Human Medicine is expected.
Teaching covers the field of Veterinary Pathology according to the „Tierärztliche Approbationsverordnung“ (TAppV) and study regulation
specifications of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine. Teaching as well as diagnostics are performed in cooperation with the second
professorship at the Institute of Veterinary Pathology. The integration of gender issues in teaching and research is strongly encouraged.
