semester 2019.
We are seeking for an outstanding scientist in protein biochemistry and
microbial physiology with excellent qualifications in the field of biochemistry
of prokaryotic metabolism. The candidate has a strong research profile in
studying metabolic pathways and the function of proteins in prokaryotes
(bacteria and archaea). The research focus will be on the elucidation of
enzyme reactions and the function of hypothetical proteins. It is expected that
the research will be integrated into the understanding of the function of
biomolecules in the context of marine and / or extreme habitats.
The professorship is located at the Institute for General Microbiology at
Kiel University. It is also integrated into two of the research areas of the
University, i.e. "Kiel Marine Science" (

The successful candidate is expected to participate in current and
future collaborative, large-scale project applications such as Collaborative
Research Centers, e.g. CRC1182 "Origin and function of metaorganisms"
(
www.metaorganism-research.com) and / or CRC754 "Climate biogeochemistry
interactions in the tropical ocean" (
www.sfb754.de).
