The School of Mechanical Engineering and the School of Process Engineering at Hamburg University of Technology (TUHH) are looking for a determined and motivated person who can represent the field of Energy Technology in teaching and research. The professorship is located within the intersection of process engineering and mechanical engineering with links to electrical engineering and civil engineering.
PROFESSORSHIP W3 IN THE DOMAIN OF ENERGY TECHNOLOGY
Ref. No. P2106
In-depth expertise in one or more of the following research areas is desirable:
- Development of advanced thermal and/or electrical energy conversion systems, processes and plants
- Storage of thermal and/or electrical energy including investigation of innovative storage media and concepts including technological solutions
- Optimisation of combined heat and power plants (CHP) with different thermal capacities for solid, liquid and gaseous energy carriers while meeting given sustainability criteria
- Technological combinations of conversion processes and systems to cover a defined energy supply task based on different renewable sources of energy
- Technological challenges related to the use of special fuels (sustainable energy recovery from waste and industrial residuals, flue gas treatment (incl. carbon capture), ash-related problems, innovative materials)
Applicants should have solid and proven scientific experience in the field of Energy Technology. Industrial experience is of advantage. In the field of teaching, it is expected that the successful applicant will provide Bachelors-level lectures on basic core material (e.g. Thermodynamics (English), Fundamentals of energy storage) as well as on more advanced Master courses (e.g. Thermal energy conversion plants (Combined heat and power plants)).
TUHH acknowledges exceptional and innovative teaching achievements and capabilities. Successful applicants will therefore contribute to its prominent profile of innovative teaching methods with high-quality undergraduate (B.Sc.) and graduate (M.Sc.) courses. The courses are offered in English and German; a willingness
