W3 Professorship “Mobile Sensing”
(Full Professor)
to be appointed at the earliest time possible.
The newly established professorship will strengthen the DFG Cluster of
Excellence PhenoRob (
www.phenorob.de). One major aspect within
PhenoRob is the interpretation of sensor data acquired from mobile sensor
platforms as well as the subsequent execution of specific actions from the
mobile platform. Therefore, the professorship should work on one or more of
the following topics:
- state estimation and control of mobile platforms;
- acquisition of the 3D information of the surroundings of the platform, e.g.,
using laser scanning, images, or radar data;
- analysis of point clouds with respect to geometry and/or semantics, e.g.,
using machine learning approaches; and/or
- autonomous execution of targeted actions related to field environments.
Within PhenoRob, key application areas are related to crops and field
environments. Experiences within this domain are welcome but not mandatory.
The candidate must be internationally visible in the above-mentioned research
topic and must be experienced in the acquisition of relevant third-party funding
as well as the co-ordination of research projects. The professorship will be
affiliated with the Institute of Geodesy and Geoinformation (IGG) and will
represent the above-mentioned field in research and university-level teaching.
The conditions of employment are according to §36 Hochschulgesetz NRW.
