PROFESSORSHIP W3 IN THE FIELD OF
SECURE CYBER-PHYSICAL SYSTEMS

Ref. No. P-19-01
The School of Electrical Engineering, Computer Science and Mathematics seeks applications for the head of the future Institute of Secure Cyber-Physical Systems. The position is linked to ahoi.digital, a programme of the Free and Hanseatic City of Hamburg for strengthening Computer Science, and will begin in the 2020/2021 winter semester. The successful candidate is expected to advance security research on cyber-physical systems from the adaptation of established methods of communication and computer security in Cyber-Physical Systems applications to the design of new and innovative methods that facilitate control systems to safely handle intentional interference with their operation. This explicitly comprises both small-scale and large-scale control systems. Qualified applicants are expected to have an excellent track record in foundational and applied research in this area and to show a strong interest in interdisciplinary work with other engineering disciplines at TUHH such as robotics, mechatronics, energy systems or industrial automation. We particularly welcome applicants with a developed background in technical aspects of Cyber-Physical Systems, including but not necessarily limited to one or more of the following aspects:
  • Methods for modelling, realization and evaluation of security in control systems
  • Design, analysis and implementation of security mechanisms and threats in Cyber-Physical Systems throughout the system stack
  • Security of Cyber-Physical Systems in a specific application domain
  • Interaction between safety and security
  • Intrusion detection systems for Cyber-Physical Systems.
As the future head of the Institute of Secure Cyber-Physical Systems, the successful candidate is expected to offer courses in Computer Science and related degree programmes at both undergraduate and graduate level and to engage in further development of the curricula offered by TUHH. The ability to teach undergraduate courses in German is of advantage.
