A research associate position (postdoc) is available in the group of Prof. Dr. Parvana Hajieva at the MSH Medical School Hamburg GmbH (https://www.medicalschool-hamburg.de/en/). The MSH is a private, accredited university located in the modern Hafencity of Hamburg and hosts an entirely new laboratory complex equipped with state-of-the-art instrumentation for biomedical research.
Task description: The successful applicant will pursue an experimental biomedical research project focusing on the adaptive responses of the brain to disease-causing stimuli, particularly focusing on metabolic changes and altered protein quality control in the context of Parkinson’s disease. The project involves a wide spectrum of techniques from cell culture, molecular biology and biochemistry including immunocytochemistry, protein expression analysis, cell culture functional assays, life-cell imaging and fluorescence microscopy.
Profile: We are looking for a motivated and ambitious postdoctoral researcher who strives to contribute to the development of innovative therapeutic approaches for neurodegenerative diseases. Experience in eukaryotic cell culture is prerequisite, knowledge of fluorescence microscopic and histologic techniques would be an advantage. Good knowledge of English is essential.
Qualification: The position requires a completed PhD degree in the natural sciences, preferably related to a biological, biomedical or neuroscience topic. Earlier scientific publications are welcome.
Employment: Permanent position involving the standard probationary period.
