The European Institute for Energy Research EDF-KIT EWIV (EIFER), established by
EDF and KIT, located in Karlsruhe is currently looking for a
RESEARCH FELLOW F/M IN THE FIELD OF URBAN MOBILITY
EIFER is looking for an employee with scientific skills related to transportation and
energy in sustainable cities and territories.
The candidate will join the research group "Urban Systems", gathering around 20
researchers with different backgrounds (engineering, geography, ecology, economics,
social and political sciences, data science) on the topics of the smart & sustainable city
and environmental economics.
The candidate will be involved in several projects and the definition of new activities,
including the redaction of proposals for national and European calls.
The assigned tasks involve
- Understanding of modern challenges for the urban mobility sector (lowcarbon
mobility, autonomous driving, infrastructure, services and big data,
intermodality etc.)
- Development and use of modelling tools related to urban and regional
mobility and transportation (e.g. 4 step model, LUTI model, etc.)
- Assessment of innovative services and technology
Required qualifications
The job applicant should hold a Master degree educational level (or equivalent) or higher
in engineering, transport modelling, data science or applied mathematics. The applicant
should be familiar with quantitative methods and tools for modelling and simulation
(scripted languages, GIS) as well as data analysis.
Furthermore, the applicant should be interested in working in high innovative
environments, such as mobility, smart cities and energy sector.
Interdisciplinary and analytical thinking, good presentation and communication skills,
ability to work independently and responsibly in a structured way and to convey clear and
efficient messages are key competences for this position.
A professional level of English is compulsory, as well as a professional level of at least
one between the two languages French and/or German.
Conditions
The duration of the position is initially limited to 2 years, starting as soon as possible.
