The ZEW - Leibniz Centre for European Economic Research in Mannheim is looking to fill the following position in the Junior Research Group
"Competition and Innovation" within the Research Department "Economics of Innovation and Industrial Dynamics".
Researcher (Doctoral Student, 100 %)
As a successful applicant, you will contribute to the group's scientific research agenda as well as its economic policy consulting
projects. Members of the Junior Research Group work on current issues at the interface between competition economics
and innovation. Examples are the role of market concentration on productivity growth or the effect of corporate
cross ownership on firms' competition and innovation strategies. Working with a wide range of economic methods (theoretical,
empirical, experimental), you will conduct scientific research with the goal of publication in high-level scientific
journals and engage in economic policy consulting projects with high visibility among economic decision makers and the
This position is aimed at university graduates with a very good degree in economics (Master) and a specialization in industrial
economics or applied microeconomics. We also expect a solid knowledge of econometrics (particularly microeconometrics)
and a strong interest in current economic policy issues. Your ability to capture facts accurately and concisely and
strong English writing skills complete your profile. German language skills are appreciated but not required.

Remuneration is based on the TV-L statutory salary scale and its associated public sector benefits. We explicitly support
your further academic qualifications (doctorate), for example in the form of courses, the granting of sabbaticals, and the
support of research visits at foreign universities and research institutions. Successful applicants may have the option to
join the ZEW track of the University of Mannheim's doctoral program in economics (Center for Doctoral Studies in Economics,
CDSE). This requires a separate application at the CDSE.
