Senior Scientist/ Senior Associate in Sustainable Logistics and Supply Chains (gn*)
Research fields and responsibilities
This dual position involves both research as well as development and branding of the newly established Center for Sustainable Logistics and Supply Chains at KLU.
You will work on research projects in the field of sustainable logistics and supply chain, focusing, for example, on decarbonization (e.g., through new technologies or behavioral changes), transparency (e.g., through digital technologies and collaboration), and Circular Economy. Your research should be scientifically rigorous and, at the same time, relevant to managers and/or policymakers. We welcome both qualitative and quantitative research approaches.
You will also contribute to shaping the future of the CSLS through initiating and managing projects that help establish the CSLS as a global knowledge hub for sustainable logistics and supply chain management, developing outreach formats for effectively transferring research into industry practice, and identifying opportunities for external funding and preparing project proposals. Overall, the position offers a unique opportunity to gain experience in leading research projects and teams. There are also possibilities to contribute to the Center‘s teaching activities if desired.
We are seeking for
We are looking for a passionate person who wants to make a difference in current logistics and supply chain practices. You hold a Ph.D. in engineering, management, or logistics and have a clear aspiration to pursue an academic career. Relevant experience around companies‘ challenges regarding sustainability and experience with third-party-funded research is highly welcome. Your working style is team-oriented, proactive and structured, and you have strong communication skills. You are fluent in English; German is not necessary but is an additional asset.
Conditions
We offer an entrepreneurial research atmosphere in an expanding team with the unique opportunity to play a leading role in shaping an impactful research center right from the start. This is an 80-100% position, initially for two years, with the possibility for an extension, depending on performance and availability of positions. We also offer national and international development opportunities through collaborations within academia and industry and a very attractive location in the heart of Hamburg. The successful candidate will receive an attractive salary based on the German salary system for public universities and an annual research budget. The starting date is negotiable, but we are looking to fill this position quickly and consider applications on a rolling basis.
