The
Technical University of Munich (TUM) invites applications for the position of
Tenure Track Assistant Professor
in »Brain-Machine-Interfaces for Human Assistance«
to begin in summer semester 2020. The position is a W2 fixed-term position (6 years) with tenure track to
a tenured W3 position (Associate Professor). The professorship is funded by the Federal Tenure Track
Programme.
Scientific environment
The professorship belongs to the TUM Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering and will be
cross-appointed to the Munich School of Robotics and Machine Intelligence (MSRM).
Responsibilities
The responsibilities include research and teaching as well as the promotion of early-career scientists. We
seek to appoint an expert in the research area of Brain-Machine-Interfaces for Human Assistance with a
focus on enabling precise, rapid and bidirectional interaction between the human brain and intelligent
assistance systems and prostheses as well as developing new neuronal interfaces based on cutting-edge
chip technology. The teaching load includes courses in the university's bachelor and master programs.
Qualifications
We are looking for a candidate who has demonstrated initial scientific achievements and the capacity for
independent research at the highest international standards. A university degree and an outstanding
doctoral degree or equivalent scientific qualification as well as pedagogical aptitude, including the ability
to teach in English, are also prerequisites. Substantial research experience abroad is expected.
