Job Description:
We are looking for highly qualified postdoctoral fellow in the area soil microbial ecology, to integrate in the ongoing research activities at the Terrestrial Ecosystem Research Group (TER) at the Centre for Microbiology and Environmental Systems Science. The postdoctoral fellow is specifically expected to engage in ongoing global change experiments (drought, warming) and bring experience in this area. The ideal candidate will have previous experience managing larger-scale, long-term ecological experiments, and be competent in the use of stable isotope probing of microbial communities using 13C, 18O, and 2H (e.g., DNA-qSIP and PLFA-SIP), as well as in data analysis and statistics, preferably in R.
Profile:
- Doctoral or PhD degree (Biology, Ecology, Soil Science, or similar)
- At least 3 years of relevant post-doctoral research experience
- Excellent command of written and spoken English
- High ability to express himself/herself both orally and in writing
- Documented publication activity in peer-reviewed journals
- Good team-working ability
Professional competences
A comprehensive knowledge and practical expertise in at least one of the following areas:
- Application of of stable isotopes (e.g., 13C, 18O, and 2H) in stable isotope probing of microbial communities (e.g., DNA-SIP, qSIP, PLFA-SIP)
- Coordination and management of ecological experiments (specifically climate change experiments
- Statistical analysis of large microbial datasets (preferably also programming skills in R)
In addition, we expect the successful candidate to have experience in supervising students.
