The Center for Molecular Biology (ZMB) was founded in 2007, centralizing all groups of the University of Vienna working in the field of molecular biology. To promote collaborations with the life sciences departments of the Medical University of Vienna, the Max Perutz Labs were founded in 2005. The announcement is made for 3 years, whereby the employment relationship is initially limited to 1.5 years and is automatically extended to a total of 3 years, unless the employer submits a declaration of non-renewal after a maximum of 12 months. In case of probation and appropriate work progress an extension to 4 years is possible.

Extent of Employment: 30.0 hours/week
Job grading in accordance with collective bargaining agreement: §48 VwGr. B1 Grundstufe (praedoc) with relevant work experience determining the assignment to a particular salary grade.
Job Description:
Participation in research, teaching and administration: - Contribution to research project - Participation in publications / academic articles / presentations - Participation in teaching and independent teaching of courses as defined by the collective. - Supervision of BSc and MSc students
We expect the successful candidate to sign a doctoral thesis agreement within 12-18 months.
Profile:
- University degree in Biology, Biotechnology, Molecular Genetics or related fields - Successful VBC PhD program Selection or similar international PhD Selection required - Practical experience in cell culture handling and standard molecular biology protocols - Experience in transcriptomics and related high-throughput sequencing approaches - High ability to express yourself both orally and in writing - Excellent command of written and spoken English - Computer literacy (MS-Office; Imaging Software) - Ability to work in a team - Basic experience in academic writing
Successful completion of the MFPL-PhD-Selection, VBC-PhD-Selection or similar international PhD selection required. High level of written and spoken English - Team oriented.
