at the Department of Physiological Chemistry

We are looking for a PhD applicant, who is interested in taste research, chemoreceptors, and food choice analyses.
The position is advertised for 4 years, starting with a contract duration of 1,5 years which will automatically be extended to a duration of 4 years, unless the employer does submit a nonextension notification after 12 months.
Duration of employment: 4 year/s
Extent of Employment: 30.0 hours/week
Job grading in accordance with collective bargaining agreement: §48 VwGr. B1 Grundstufe (praedoc) with relevant work experience determining the assignment to a particular salary grade.
Job Description:
• Participation in research projects including the independent conduction of experiments in the laboratory, statistical analyses, and publication & presentation of the results
• Participation in experiments with animal tissue and clinical human studies
• Participation in teaching in the field of chemistry and nutrition as defined by the collective agreement
• Supervision of students in the laboratory
• Involvement in the organization of meetings, conferences, symposiums
• Involvement in teaching and research administration
We expect the successful candidate to sign a doctoral thesis agreement within 12 months.
Profile:
• The ideal candidate must have a Master degree in Nutritional Sciences, Food Chemistry or related fields
• Interest and ideally first experience in taste research, chemoreceptors, and food choice analyses
• Hands-on experience in conducting experiments in the field of molecular biology such as gene expression analyses, sensory analyses, and statistical analysis
• High ability to express yourself both orally and in writing
• Excellent command of written and spoken English
• IT user skills of MS Office, GraphPadPrism, SigmaPlot, R
