The Institute of Physiological Chemistry, Faculty of Chemistry, University of Vienna, is currently seeking a PhD student interested in studying the impact of food processing on lipid oxidation and human health.
The position is advertised for 4 years, starting with a contract duration of 1,5 years which will automatically be extended to a duration of 4 years, unless the employer does submit a nonextension notification after 12 months.
Job grading in accordance with collective bargaining agreement: §48 VwGr. B1 Grundstufe (praedoc).

• Participation in research projects focusing on strategies to combat lipid oxidation in food and its detrimental effects on human health
• Independent conduction of experiments in the laboratory, statistical analyses, publication and presentation of the results
• Participation in teaching in the field of chemistry and nutrition as defined by the collective agreement
• Supervision of students in the laboratory
• Involvement in research administration.
We expect the successful candidate to sign a doctoral thesis agreement within 12 months.
Profile:
• The ideal candidate must have a Master degree in Analytical (Food) Chemistry, Food Technology, Nutritional Sciences, or related fields
• Interest and ideally first experience in lipid oxidation in food and its health impact
• Hands-on experience in conducting experiments in the field of analytical chemistry and molecular biology would be preferred
• High ability to express yourself both orally and in writing
• Excellent command of written and spoken English
• IT user skills of MS Office, GraphPadPrism, SigmaPlot, R
