The German International University (GIU) is a German cultural institution located in the New
Administrative Capital, Egypt, and established under the frame of the Cultural Agreement of 1960
and 1984 concluded between the Arab Republic of Egypt and the Federal Republic of Germany.
GIU was established in cooperation with the German State Universities of Applied Sciences,
notably
HTW Berlin, HWR Berlin, TH Ulm, and HHN.

Job Profile
We are looking for a personality for the following fields of work;
1. Content support, organization and realization of the laboratory operation of Laboratories
"Modelstudio" in the course of study "Industrial Design.
2. Further development of the laboratory concept as well as in the design, organization and
implementation of new laboratory and study projects in the course of study "Industrial Design" in
direct cooperation with the responsible professor.
3. Accompanying and supporting the students during their project and graduation phase of
technical assistance in solving practical problems in this field.
4. Carrying out administrative tasks and business on the Industrial Design course.
5. Administration and management of technical equipment.
Qualifications
- Candidates should have a university degree university or college degree in the field of
product design, industrial design, interior design or comparable design studies, several
years of relevant professional experience in the craft sector.
- Solid knowledge of wood/plastic/metal processing and rapid prototyping in the field of
design model making.
- Experience in dealing with different model making techniques as well as knowledge of
regulations and specific requirements for material processing and machining methods.
- Experience in the practical training/instruction of students.
- Thorough knowledge of all regulations and ordinances relevant to work in the studios as
well as the studio rules and regulations in accordance with the requirements of the general
occupational health and safety regulations.
- Sound knowledge of the relevant provisions of public procurement law.
- Independent, planned, systematic and careful working methods
- High degree of pedagogical-didactic expertise and skills.
- High level of motivation and a sense of accuracy
- Good communication and cooperation skills, enjoyment of service-oriented and friendly
interaction with students, staff and lecturers at HTW Berlin and external contact persons.
- Willingness to pursue further education and development independently.
- English language skills
Appointment Terms
The position is to be filled by the Spring semester (September 2021). Appointment to this position
will initially be made on a fixed-term contract of two years. Positional classification (lecturer,
assistant, or full professor) and salaries will be matching the qualifications and relevant experience
of the candidate. Continuation of appointment beyond the initial term will be subject to mutual
agreement.
