The Max Planck Unit for the Science of Pathogens headed by its director Prof. Emmanuelle Charpentier is seeking a full time Biotechnologist/Bachelor/Engineer
with excellent skills and knowledge in heading and managing the organization of a research laboratory.
The Max Planck Unit for the Science
of Pathogens is an international research institute currently being established, whose research focuses on basic biological principles in bacterial pathogens
(https://www.emmanuelle-charpentier-lab.org). We are particular interested in genetic
and biochemical mechanisms of regulation by RNAs and proteins in bacterial pathogens causing diseases in humans, and in viruses of these pathogens. The overall
aims of the Unit`s research are to gain a better understanding of the molecular and cellular mechanisms that control and regulate bacterial infectious processes.
For our department, we are seeking a highly motivated and talented Biotechnologist/Engineer/Lab Manager to head the organization and management of the laboratory work.
We are seeking a highly qualified person with previous experience who is expected to ensure high-level operations of the laboratory work incl. lab management and
purchasing, have experience in performing experimental work (biochemical assays, bacterial genetics, cell culture) in an independent manner, overseeing work according
to §15 Gentechnik Sicherheitsverordnung (GenTSV) and contribute actively to collaborative and complementary research across the Unit.
The candidate’s qualification should include:
Bachelor or engineer degree in natural or medical sciences or equivalent qualifications
Strong background in laboratory management and organization
In-depth knowledge of state-of-the-art molecular methods
Fluent in English language
Friendly disposition, confident and responsible work ethics
Working independently and as part of an international team
Self-motivated and enthusiastic to work in a competitive, dynamic, stimulating and interacting international scientific environment focusing on basic biological research
The position is initially for two years with the possibility of an extension after evaluation. The payment level is based on the German state public service
salary scale (up to E11, TVöD-Bund) according to the training, qualifications and professional experience. The benefits correspond to the regulations
