Full Professorship (W3) in Molecular Biology
The following position is available at the Zentrum für Molekulare Biologie (ZMBH) in cooperation with the Faculty of Medicine at the Heidelberg University:
FULL PROFESSORSHIP (W3) IN MOLECULAR BIOLOGY
The ZENTRUM FÜR MOLEKULARE BIOLOGIE (ZMBH) at Heidelberg University (Germany) is an internationally recognized research center for fundamental research in molecular and cell biology located in one of the largest German campuses for the life sciences.
The successful candidate will contribute to the research activities at the ZMBH in fundamental molecular and cellular biology and to the curriculum of the Faculty of Biosciences.
More specifically, this professorship should investigate mechanisms of molecular aging in fields such as genomic instability, epigenetic alterations, loss of proteostasis, cellular senescence, stem cell exhaustion, altered intercellular communication, deregulated nutrient sensing, mitochondrial dysfunction, microbiome-aging interactions or related topics. The holder of this position will be an active member of the Network Aging Research (NAR) of Heidelberg University. Applicants should use state-of-the-art approaches to modern molecular biology research, such as biochemistry and structural biology, cell and molecular biology, molecular genetics, bioinformatics and systems analysis. Applicants should have outstanding research and publication records corresponding to their career stage. The position includes 100% salary support and a research support budget commensurate with that for a first appointment at the W-3 level.
The ZMBH houses 15 independent research groups. We offer an excellent and international research environment, which is further complemented by numerous university institutes and
research centers. There are several in-house scientific core facilities, i.e. protein analytics including mass spectrometry, advanced light microscopy, flow cytometry, moreover mechanical
and electrical workshops and centralized administrative services are available. Nearby facilities on campus offer additional services

Prerequisites for employment are a university degree and a lecturer qualification (Habilitation) or a successfully evaluated junior professorship or equivalent qualifications (in accordance with Article 47, paragraph 2 of the Higher Education Law of the Federal State of Baden- Württemberg).
