FULL PROFESSORSHIP (W3) IN THE AREA OF

The School of Civil Engineering seeks to appoint an individual who will strengthen basic research in the field of Concrete Structures. The successful candidate should have a Ph.D. in Civil Engineering, have either gained work experience in academia or in engineering practice and possess a proven outstanding track record in research, teaching or in engineering practice beyond the doctorate. Strong interest in
interdisciplinary collaboration with other engineering disciplines within the strategic alignment and profiling of the TUHH as well as a willingness to raise third-party funds as well as contribute to and/or lead coordinated funding initiatives is expected. Relevant areas of research include, but are not restricted to, the following topics:
 

• Sustainable concrete structures
  - Material and topology optimised design
  - Ultralight concrete structures
  - Design methods for concrete structures with novel materials (e.g. UHPC, carbon concrete, non-metallic
    reinforcement)
  - Development of novel composite structures
  - Life-cycle analysis
•  Rehabilitation of existing structures
  - Assessment and strengthening of existing concrete, prestressed concrete and composite structures
  - Non-destructive testing methods of concrete structures (Structural Health Monitoring)
  - Digitalisation and industrialised production methods for construction under operation
• Numerical simulation of concrete structures, including stochastic investigations
• Marine concrete structures

In the mentioned research areas there are excellent opportunities for cooperation both at the TUHH and at other universities and research institutions in Hamburg as well as with industrial partners.

The future professor is expected to teach in German and English in the courses of study of the School of Civil Engineering. They will employ innovative teaching methods and actively participate in the development of new study programs.

This professorship is due to commence in the winter term 2023/24.
