Head of the CRISPR Screening Platform (m/f/d)

The mission of the Max Planck Institute for Biology of Ageing is to unravel the common molecular mechanisms underlying ageing and ageing-associated diseases with the longer-term objective of improving health of the elderly and developing novel therapeutic interventions. The Institute has several service core facilities, which provide methodological expertise and state-of-the-art technologies in Bioinformatics, FACS & Imaging, Phenotyping, Proteomics and Transgenesis. The Institute was founded 2008 and hosts around 300 people with nationalities from over 30 different countries.
We seek an expert to build up and run a platform for CRISPR-enabled functional genomic screens to catalyze scientific discoveries at MPI-AGE. The future CRISPR Screening Platform will provide expertise to the scientists in house on performing CRISPR screens, designing libraries, and implementing novel CRISPR tools for genomic editing. The position is full-time.
Requirements:
- A completed PhD degree in the Life Sciences
- Documented expertise in CRISPR genetic screens
- Talent and interest in methodology development
- Excellent command in spoken and written English
Services to be provided:
- Consultation on screen design, implementation, and analysis
- Consultation on library design
- Maintenance of state-of-the art libraries
- Implementation of novel CRISPR gene editing tools
- Development of novel screening approaches and integration with established cores (including Bioinformatics and FACS & Imaging)
