Data Integration and Analysis (working title)
at Helmholtz Zentrum München
to begin in winter semester 2021/22. The position is W2 Tenure Track Assistant Professorship (with tenure track to W3) or W3 Associate/Full Professorship.
Depending on the career level, the professorship is combined with the position as head of an Independent Research Group or as director of an Institute at HMGU.
Scientific Environment
The professorship belongs to the TUM Department of Informatics and in the future to the TUM School of Computation, Information & Technology. Its future holder will be appointed professor under the terms of a private-law contract and will be granted leave of absence in order to lead the Research Unit Data Integration and Analysis at HMGU based on an employment agreement under private law (Jülicher-Modell). The position is embedded in Helmholtz Artificial Intelligence Cooperation Unit (
Helmholtz AI) located at HMGU and in the ELLIS Munich environment.
Responsibilities
We seek to appoint an expert in the research area of data analytics and integration with a focus on developing approaches to discover new patterns and mechanisms via ML-driven data mining and integration, graph-based models, and knowledge systems to aggregate, systematically query, and learn on large data sets. The responsibilities include research and teaching as well as the promotion of early-career scientists. The teaching load includes courses in the university’s bachelor and master programs.
Qualifications
We are looking for a candidate who has demonstrated excellent achievements in research and teaching in an internationally recognized scientific environment, regarding the relevant career level (please see
www.tum.de/en/faculty-recruiting-faq/ for further information). A university degree and an outstanding doctoral degree or equivalent scientific qualification as well as pedagogical aptitude, including the ability to teach in English, are also prerequisites. Substantial research experience abroad is expected.
