The University of Potsdam, Faculty of Science, Institute of Mathematics, invites
applications for the following position to
be filled as soon as possible:
Professorship (W 2)
for Algebra
We are looking for an internationally renowned
individual who is active in a modern research field of
algebra and who can represent this field in research
and teaching. The chosen candidate is expected to
establish an active collaboration with the various
research groups at the institute in geometry, graph
theory, analysis or mathematical physics. In addition,
candidates need to have experience in teaching and in
the acquisition of external funding.
The successful candidate will teach (linear) algebra
in the bachelor’s degree program and the teachertraining
degree programs as well as advanced courses
in the master’s degree program in mathematics.
Moreover, teaching is required in natural science and
computer science programs. Courses are taught in
both German and English. Non-German speakers are
expected to acquire a working knowledge of German
within the first three years of their appointment.
The hiring process is subject to the requirements set forth in Section 41 of the Brandenburg
Higher Education Act (BbgHG). The appointment procedure will be conducted in accordance
with Section 40 BbgHG.
