The Digital Engineering Faculty at the University of Potsdam hereby announces two joint professorships under the Jülich
Model with the Hasso Plattner Institute for Digital Engineering gGmbH to be filled immediately:
W3-Professorship for Cyber Security and Identity Management
The professors will be responsible for establishing the master’s program in "Cyber Security" of the Digital Engineering Faculty
and developing an internationally recognized center of excellence regarding research and teaching within the field of cyber security.
The professorship with the emphasis on identity management will research and develop the secure handling of different
types of digital identities as well as innovative authentication and access control mechanisms for complex applications,
such as e-government, digital health, education cloud or e-commerce. Topics of special interest are, for example, identity
management systems, authorization and verification techniques. The successful candidate is expected to have experience in
designing and implementing user management and access control systems for pervasive computing systems, including cyber
physical systems, IoT or (mobile) health systems.
The qualified candidate will have outstanding abilities in the field of research/development including extensive experience
therein. Furthermore, the candidate will have worked together with external partners from industry and economy and have
had experience in the procurement of third-party research projects. In addition, the candidate will be able to show a special
commitment to teaching and has the necessary experience for the development of the innovative "Cyber Security" master’s

The joint professorship is being filled under the Jülich Model, with a teaching obligation of at least 8 hours per week at the
University of Potsdam.
The following application requirements for professors must be documented in accordance with Section 41 of the Brandenburg
Higher Education Act (Brandenburgisches Hochschulgesetz, BbgHG): a completed university degree, pedagogical aptitude,
and a special ability for scientific work, as is typically documented by a dissertation project; comprehensive competences in
science management and additional scholarly achievements as evidenced by a Habilitation (post-doctoral dissertation), a
junior professorship or work as a research associate at an institution of higher education or an extramural research institution,
or scholarly activity in the private sector, or in a similar social field, whether in Germany or abroad. The appointment procedure
is conducted in accordance with Section 40 of the Brandenburg Higher Education Act.
